Although we dislike the term “women’s entrepreneurship,” unfortunately, in our times, we must use it, as it remains relatively rare and challenging for women. This is either due to the many roles a woman is called upon to fulfill (mother, partner, employer), which are sometimes contradictory, or because true equality (at least not as we would like) between the two genders in the workplace does not exist.
Thus, Ierax Analytix, in collaboration with the organization Women Do Business, conducted a survey with several common questions posed exclusively to men and women to assess whether different perspectives exist based on gender.
Differences immediately emerged. When asked if they believe that women and men are equal in the world of entrepreneurship, 27% of women and 50% of men responded affirmatively.
Regarding whether women have the same resources and opportunities for success in entrepreneurship, 23% of women and 32% of men said yes, with men again holding a more positive view.
A significant difference between women and men is evident in the question about the greatest fear a woman starting a business now might have. For women, the primary concern is the financial factor (45%), while for men, it’s negative and sexist comments along with gender inequality (39%).
Finally, participants were asked to indicate their level of agreement or disagreement with certain statements (on a scale from 1 to 5, where 1 = Strongly Disagree and 5 = Strongly Agree):
- “A woman can perform technical professions just as well as a man.”
- Women: 4.12
- Men: 3.46
- “Motherhood negatively affects women’s entrepreneurship.”
- Women: 3.16
- Men: 3.48
- “There is now gender equality in the workplace.”
- Women: 2.26
- Men: 2.85
